Inspired by Fronteras del Futuro: Art in New Mexico and Beyond

Futurism and speculative fiction include many artistic styles and interpretations. In NHCC’s exhibit, Fronteras del Futuro: Art in New Mexico and Beyond, some of the artworks include “shapeshifters,” or beings that can change their form or embody multiple forms at the same time. These beings demonstrate hybridity (mixture of different species), and the outcome is beings with animal, plant, human, and/or humanoid features. Follow along on this activity to create your own shapeshifter!

If you need inspiration, check out our “Shapeshifter Image Collection” for images to cut apart and put back together in new and exciting ways!
